The Biggest Movie Event of the Year-The Oscars was held at the Kodak Theatre on Feburary 22nd 2009.Hosted by Hugh Jackman,it is the one night when the whole Hollywood comes together to honour and celebrate its greatest talent.

The red carpet,before the main show was graced by A-list celebrities such as Brad Pitt,Angelina Jolie,Kate Winslet,Meryl Steep,Anne Hathaway and Sean Penn.

The main show saw 'Slumdog Millionarie' starring Dev Patel & Freida Pinto winning 8 out of the 10 nominations the movie recieved.Slumdog Millionaire won oscars in the categories of best picture,directing,music and cinematography and others.The movie beat the other favourites like ''The Curious case of Benjamin Button' and 'Milk' starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn respectively to win best picture.Danny Boyle took home the Best Director award while AR Rahman clinched the award for best song for''Jai Ho''.The Oscars for actor and actress in a leading role were won by veterans though.Best actor went to Sean Penn for his performace as a gay politician in ''Milk'' and best actress went to Kate Winselt for her performance in ''The Reader''. Best actor and actress in a supporting role went to Health Ledger for ''The Dark Knight'' and Penelope Cruz for ''Vicky Cristina Barcelona'', Overall. 'Slumdog Millionaire' came out top on oscar night 2009;winning the most number of awards.
